We have implemented a “Select Child” dropdown to easily filter the calendars within the web version of Canvas down to an individual student. This makes it much easier for parents with multiple students at Thales Academy to filter the calendar down to items that affect one student.

This addition makes the Canvas web calendar much easier to use, but Canvas is still limited by your web browser's options when it comes to printing the calendar. For families who would like to print calendar events, we recommend subscribing to each student's Canvas calendar in your computer's calendar software, which will have many more options regarding print layout. See the steps below for how to set this up.

1. Log in as your student at www.thalesacademy.org/canvas using the manual Canvas credentials provided on the onRecord Contact Card for your student.

2. Click on Calendar in the left-side Global Navigation and choose “Calendar feed” on the right. This opens a popup box with the URL of the student's iCal feed that you can copy and paste into your Calendar app. Do not click to view the feed (this will download the calendar events as-is, and will not automatically update.

3. From your Calendar program, add a new Calendar Subscription, Feed, or URL, depending on the terminology of the program.

If you’re unsure how to set this up in your Calendar program, do a web search for “subscribe to calendar feed in …” and fill in the name and version of the program you wish to use. Calendar subscriptions are a part of every major calendar application.

Repeat these steps for each student you have at Thales Academy (Log in as the student, click the calendar feed under his or her account to get a new student-specific iCal feed URL. This will allow you to color-code each student’s calendar and turn them on and off individually in your Calendar program. If you sign in to Canvas using your parent credentials, you are still able to generate a Calendar Feed, but it will group all events in the same color calendar. This will achieve the same result for families with one student at Thales Academy, but may not be desirable for families with multiple students.
