We're so excited to have you join us for the 2025-2026 school year! You can bookmark this page as a future resource for campus-wide information, and consult some of the information that is available to our currently enrolled families. For families new to Thales Academy, instructions on how to set up accounts in Canvas and our other platforms will be provided closer to the start of the 2025-2026 school year. For families of a current Thales Academy K-3 student, you will be automatically be added to this course around the same time so you will be able to see and subscribe to announcements sent home from Thales Academy Apex JH/HS.

Academic Calendar

Handbook

Students are expected to follow the guidelines in the Student Handbook at all times while at school and school-related events. It is our goal for each student to develop specific character traits we call The 15 Outcomes. Additionally, please review the information available on our website regarding Healthy Habits that are engrained in our program.

Dress Code

Thales Academy students adhere to a simple dress code: Khaki or navy pants, skirts, shorts, or jumpers paired with polo shirts of various colors.

We have found that students learn best when given the freedom to focus their attention on academics and those aspects of character that are truly important.

Lunch Catering

Lunches are catered each day through MyHotLunchbox. Visit the MyHotLunchbox page and click Create Account to get started. All questions regarding lunch catering should be directed to info@myhotlunchbox.com or (888) 894-8295.

Carpool and Student Safety

Morning and afternoon carpool run efficiently when all families follow the same procedures outlined here. For the safety of our students and neighbors, please review and plan to follow this guideline every day.

When visiting campus during the day, please have your valid drivers license with you to check in using our visitor system.

Emergency notifications will be sent via text. Parents are subscribed at the beginning of each school year automatically. To unsubscribe, text STOP to (877) 861-4157. To register after the start of the school year, complete this form.

Athletics

Thales Academy competes within the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. The conference we compete in is the Raleigh Area Athletic Conference.

About Canvas

If you don't have a Canvas account, you're missing out! Announcements on this page are only visible to parents when signed in to Canvas.

Canvas is used for daily class communication and assignments, so parents are encouraged to use Canvas to stay up-to-date on student activity. Grades for all submitted assignments are posted to Canvas every Monday by 4pm.

This campus-level page will remain accessible to all parents without a Canvas account, but to access campus announcements and email notifications, as well as course-level student-specific information, including assignments, class announcements, and student grades, parents will need to create an account in Canvas.

Using Pairing Codes to Create an Account

Parent accounts should be created at the login page from the link "Parent of a Canvas user? Click here for an account." This process requires a pairing code. If you do not have one from your campus administrators, you can see this document for how you can generate your own. Pairing codes are one-time-use only and expire after 7 days if unused.

Setting Notification Preferences

You have control over how often you receive notifications for each content type in Canvas. Please note that an email address must be confirmed before it will receive email notifications. You can check the status of an email address under the Ways to Contact section on the right-hand side of your User Settings page.

Basics of Using Canvas

Once logged into Canvas, your student's courses will be listed on your Dashboard. Please see this guide to learn how to customize your dashboard, view grades, and access all course content.

Configuring the Mobile Apps

For quick access to this week's assignments, grades, and to set notification triggers for grades, we recommend the blue Canvas Parent mobile app.You can sign into this app using the same parent credentials you use on the web version of Canvas. Your account must be created from the web first before you can access the parent app. To access all content in a course on a mobile device, you will want to sign in to the red Student app as the student, using the student credentials provided in onRecord at the "Parent" login screen.

About onRecord and Smart Tuition

The onRecord Student Information System contains information about your student's Enrollment, Registration, Attendance, and Final Report Cards. An onRecord account is created during the application process. If you need an additional parent account created after a student is enrolled, please contact your campus administrator. All payments for tuition and incidental items like field trips and club fees can be paid from the Smart Tuition link on the onRecord resource board. If you would like to access Smart Tuition independently from onRecord, you will need to create an additional username and password from your Smart Tuition account under Edit My Profile>My Username & Password>Update.

About LiveSchool

We use Liveschool to track and reward students behavior as a part of our belief in educating the Whole Student. Please contact a campus administrator to set up parent access to your student in Liveschool. LiveSchool access codes will be provided on the first day of school on a printed piece of paper.

Technology

Students in Grades 6-12 are assigned an Apple iPad to complete schoolwork. Student use of Technology falls under the Student Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook and the Technology Handbook.

All students will set up iPads on the first day of school using the setup video found here. Students who join later in the year or have an iPad replaced can follow the same steps at any point. Other videos on this page are provided for student reference, as well as information for parents to share in management of student web activity and device usage.
